The first 10 days of our trip was hellish, but fun --- in a freakish kind of way. :-) Four days prior to our scheduled November 2nd departure for points south, I came down with a humdinger of a cold and dutifully spent 2 days in bed attempting to ward off a nasty case of bronchitis. Rather than drive Highway 6/Highway 97 back to Penticton from McDonald Creek, we opted to split the drive in two and took the Slocan Valley route, spending the last night of our Kootenay Camping trip at the Kootenay River RV Kampground in Castlegar. A Week at McDonald Creek

After getting the new inverter and solar panels on our 5th wheel installed, we decided the best place to test the system out would be at McDonald Creek Provincial Park in British Columbia's West Kootenays. I WAS a great fan of Pearrygin Lake State Park... until just recently. We couldn't book in there for the full 6 nights we planned to be in the area, so I looked into alternatives and came up with Big Twin Lakes Campground, a mere 3 miles from Winthrop.
