{"id":11583,"date":"2012-06-11T09:17:39","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T16:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/?p=11583"},"modified":"2022-11-24T14:11:33","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T22:11:33","slug":"local-business-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/local-business-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Every Local Business Needs a Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Element-Tree-Services.gif\" alt=\"Element Tree Services\" title=\"Element Tree Services\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11587\" \/>Here's a true story about why every local business needs a website.<\/h3>\n<p>Scott, the arborist, and his crew from Element Tree Services in Penticton had just finished doing a magnificent job of cutting, shaping and pruning the trees in my yard.<\/p>\n<p>As I was writing a cheque for his work, I asked, &#8220;What's your website address?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don't have one yet&#8221;, was Scott's reply.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are you KIDDING me?&#8221;, I asked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You guys do AWESOME work at very reasonable rates, PLUS you are new to the area, AND you DON'T have a website? Are ya NUTS?&#8221;, I spouted in my typical no-holds-barred fashion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Haven't got to that yet&#8221;, Scott replied.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;OK, well, there's plenty of competition in the area and if you don't have a website that highlights your expertise and services, you're losing business&#8221; says I, always the online marketer.<\/p>\n<p>I COULD go on&#8230;. and on and on and on and on some more.<\/p>\n<p>But seriously folks, if you have a business and want MORE business&#8230; you really need to have your own website.<\/p>\n<p>What Scott has missed by not having a website was my testimonial for the fabulous work he did for me&#8230; and trust me, I've worked with enough landscapers and arborists in Penticton to know the difference between OK, good and terrific.<\/p>\n<p>I would have extolled his virtues as a true professional to the world and his site would have been seen that much more readily in the local search results.<\/p>\n<p>Too, because I'm on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/user_details?userid=aKl1XDQq5QH0nveoRdm0dw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yelp<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rosalind.gardner.biz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> AND <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/rosalindgardner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> and not shy to proclaim the positive &#8212; I'd have posted my exuberance at finally having found a GREAT arborist in my hometown of Penticton, British Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>As it stands, other than for this post, I haven't been able to share my glee at having worked with such a knowledgeable and professional tree service specialist \/ arborist in Penticton.<\/p>\n<p>With luck, his company, Element Tree Services, will benefit from this post.<\/p>\n<p>However, don't count on all your customers sharing good news on Facebook, Yelp or on their blogs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bottom line? Get a website, <em>especially<\/em> if you have a local business and want MORE business.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It's NOT that hard and I can help&#8230; check out <a href=\"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/product-and-service-changes\/\">my blogging Academy<\/a> if you want to save some money by doing it yourself (it's NOT that difficult) and have a BEAUTIFUL website, to boot. <\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, the least you can do is <a href=\"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/domain-registration-2-options\/\">register a domain name<\/a> and get a quick website up with <a href=\"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/godaddy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GoDaddy<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/bluehost\">Bluehost<\/a> (the latter of which includes domain registration in their hosting fees.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, it's such cheap marketing for your local business that you're crazy if you DON'T do it today.<\/p>\n<p>Comments, questions or suggestions?
