Since security at Toronto International Airport killed my Sony VAIO<\/a> last Christmas and I determined that the repairs would cost more than both the original computer or a replacement, the old laptop has been languishing in its shipping box under my desk.<\/p>\n

Well, during the fall version of the ‘spring cleaning' around the house, I decided that it had to go — but not before Ed rendered it completely useless to anyone inclined to pry. <\/p>\n

Ergo, he had some fun removing the keyboard and degaussing the hard drive (destroying the data) last Saturday night. <\/p>\n

\"VAIO<\/a>I carved an ‘X' into the 10.4″ screen with a screwdriver. <\/p>\n

Aaaaagh! What a BAD BAD feeling that gave me, despite the fact that the old thing had been dead for almost a year, and although I actually prefer the VAIO SZ replacement that I bought. <\/p>\n

The new VAIO<\/a> has a much larger screen and keyboard that I can actually see and use. Using the tiny little keyboard on the old one was not fun at the best of times, and I therefore didn't get much work done while I was on the road — other than to send really, really SHORT email responses — and only when absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we marked its departure with bags of Cheesies from the Halloween cache (see pic upper right) and went upstairs to survey the aging desktops. <\/p>\n
