With its emphasis on love, February is a fun month to be an affiliate marketer.
According to a 2010 U.S. Census Bureau report “America's Families and Living Arrangements”, there are 99.6 million unmarried people over age 18 in the U.S., or nearly 44% of the adult population. That statistic alone shows that Affiliating in the Season of Love can also be quite fruitful, if you like to play online matchmaker.
My first affiliate site was a dating site which has earned monthly commissions since January 1998 — and not just with dating services; as singles come in all shapes, sizes, needs, desires and wants — so you can promote products and services relevant to nearly any holiday or event throughout the year.
No matter what your niche, think beyond the obvious chocolates, candy and lingerie promotions in February — although they're good too! 🙂

In 2012, I will be intensifying the affiliate marketing efforts at full strength 🙂
Rosalind, There is no other day could be better than the 14th day of February…memories on that day should be cherish…
Thanks Rosalind, I do love this list and yes you’re so right to think beyond the chocolates, candy and lingerie promotions, what about the roses and flowers, the “weekend away” etc? Great ideas to start working on. Once we get Christmas sorted!!!
“earned monthly commissions since January 2008” …. Wait, don’t you mean “1998” ?
Thanks for the correction, Jake. I forgot about the 1900’s, I guess. LOL
I thought you started your dating site in 1998… I think 2008 may be a typo…
Curious. Did you post this blog now because you plan promos 3 months ahead of time?
Hey Sue,
Thanks for the heads-up about the typo, and yes, I wanted to get all the months of the year finally ‘out there’ so I could write a post about advance planning. 🙂
Cheers,
Ros
Hi Ros! First off-love the education you give!
How ’bout a celebration of Native Americans? Any holidays for that? I mean days revered and celebrated for the “hunt”, “harvest”, or just being one with nature?
Thom
Hi Tom,
Here’s a page that seems to have a nice listing of Native American celebrations…
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ros
Hi Ros,
I just joined your affiliate blogger pro program last week and I’m very pleased that you started it. I bought your Affiliate Marketing Handbook about five years ago when you and Anik were doing the blog school. My wife has her first Blog up thanks to your help. (www.foodcrumbs.com)
I kind of spun out of control trying to decide what I wanted to do experimenting with a bunch of companies and quite disgusted with the lack of support other companies provide. Actually, I gravitated back to your approach, wanting to do the impossible, namely being able to travel and take care of the daily chores on a laptop. Absolutely unbelievable for other people to grasp.
What triggered the latest outpouring of affiliate marketing interest to me was running into Mike Dillard of MagneticSponsoring.com. In his series of different leadership training programs if I hyperlink magneticsponsoring.com on my blog (realisticindustries.com) the prospect is whisked to his website and if they purchase anything I make a rebate. Kind of like your program just in a little different angle. So anyway, Mike Dillard and many of his high level associates are all excited about blogs and their super-sophisticated interconnectivity with all of the “Social Media” to give your blog a high “Ranking” etc. at very little to no cost.
So, I jumped in feet first and went to GoDaddy.com and created a domain named realisticindustries.com which incidentally he recommended it in his list of “unique” domain names. What I was trying to do was to be helpful (like you) to people aspiring to do affiliate marketing and even MLM companies (I’m a Herbalife Distributor too). In the Dillard approach I want to appear a leader in my Newsy, information, free Newsletter, and SOME people will eventually (especially after purchasing ANY of the Dillard Reports) will get around to asking what I’d recommend in the MLM arena and of course then I’d fire off a “New Prospect” DVD etc. and pick up some free distributors without going at it in the “traditional” way trying to “push people” into doing it. In our down economy I really think that “Health and Wellness” is not going to fizzle out. Would you believe that Herbalife just went into MONGOLIA their like 58th country.
Anyway, I bought the domain and Mike Dillard heartily recommended “OptimizePress.com” in London, England to install WordPress and a squeeze page and all that in my domain. Well, as it turns out they have their own agenda namely if you were selling “widgets” or something like that it probably would be fine. To further complicate things they have no communication system. No telephone and I’ve emailed them twice to fully explain (similar to your affiliate style) that I want to do things in an affiliate manner and have had no reply. Obviously, they are promoting “their OptimizePress” and I’ve made yet another blunder.
I’m just crazy about your “step by step” approach to all this as I’m not a rocket scientist and every company out there (except yours) thinks EVERYBODY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS STUFF! You almost got burned out as an Air-Traffic Controller and I submit a person could get BURNED OUT just trying to put the Internet stuff together!
So, my blog has got WordPress and a bunch of OptimizePress stuff corrupted into it. I need some advice as to whether 1) I could just delete all of the Optimize Press garbage and the WordPress would be just fine or 2) Just delete everything (and I don’t know how to do either) and then install WordPress right from scratch. I caught your remark in your introductory information where you said that ALL your programs use the WordPress platform. That’s where I’m at right now—completely stopped and slowly going through and building research files on all your WONDERFUL step-by-step instructions. Nobody else seems to understand that us dumbo’s out here need HELP with all this stuff.
Glad to be back on board.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for sharing and welcome to Affiliate Blogger PRO a.k.a. the Academy.
Took a quick look at your site and it looks like you already stripped it back to a basic WordPress installation… am I right?
That would have been my recommendation anyway. Better to start anew and know exactly what is going on with your
site. 🙂
Feel free to ask questions in our ABP forum at any time… lots of very smart students to answer them!
Cheers,
Ros
LOL – You’re way ahead of me. I’m still working on December.
Hi Neill,
Not to worry. I got it bass-ackwards and January isn’t even up yet. 🙂
Cheers,
Ros
Thanks again Ros for the reminders and that great thorough list you have.
It’s very much appreciated!
My pleasure as always, Jane. 🙂
