The end of the year is a fabulous time to set goals that will help you make more money online in the new year (and beyond).
Here are a few New Year's business resolutions you might want to consider adopting:
-
Ask for help
We often fail to achieve our goals because we don't ask for help. Don't let ‘not knowing' or ‘not understanding' undermine your potential for success. Reach out and ask for mentoring, guidance and support when you need it. Join a membership site that teaches what you want to learn and has a community forum in which you can get answers to your questions.
-
Cultivate a positive mindset
Success is nearly impossible to achieve when we focus on our failures, doubts and worries. View mistakes as part of the process. Learn from them and be grateful that no one died. π Derive motivation and inspiration from the success of others.
-
Be realistic
Making a million dollars in the next 30 days is unlikely (despite what scam marketers tell you) unless you win the lottery or your rich uncle croaks and leaves you his fortune. Recognize that reward is in direct correlation to effort made.
-
Learn something new
Do some reading or take a course to improve your writing skills. Read a book to improve your self-confidence or your self-discipline.
-
Adopt new methods
Investigate different strategies that you can adopt to grow your business. Add product sales to your Adsense site. Add Adsense to your affiliate blog. Offer one-on-one coaching to your repertoire. Turn your blog into an exclusive membership site. And for Pete's sake, quit relying on Feedburner alone and install that Aweber code!! π
-
Focus on your target market
If you sell medical and health products to boomers, spend more time where they hang out online and less time tweeting about Kim Kardashian's antics.
-
Know your numbers
Analyze your best traffic sources, best-selling products and blog posts from the previous year. Focus on those to make additional recommendations and sales to your existing audience.
-
Get more social
Social media marketing will continue to explode in 2012 and is clearly the best way to get free traffic to your blog. Ramp up your Facebook and Twitter activities to grow your reader and customer base.
-
Respect your time
Learn to automate every process that can be automated. For example, use Aweber's blog broadcasting to automatically deliver your latest blog posts to your subscriber list and Twitter. Be sure that each of your blog posts, Flickr and YouTube uploads also get posted automatically to Facebook. Increase your productivity with simple and inexpensive webmaster tools.
-
Celebrate your accomplishments
Savor and enjoy every step you take, no matter how small it seems. Give yourself a pat on the back or reward yourself in some way. Success isn't really success unless we enjoy it.
I hope those suggestions help you make more money online during the year(s) to come. My best wishes to you and yours for a happy, healthy and Prosperous New Year!

A great set of tips to get anyone motivated to make great things happen for 2011. One of the other things to remember is to be patient in what you’re working towards. If you’re working hard to make progress sometimes you just have to be patient to see the rewards. Happy new year to all!
Good to know π and hey….i wanne say thanks for the usefull knowledge.I just love it!
10 good tips for a better life π
Happy new year !
What a great advice for the new year! Will definitely try to put them into practice. But it’s also great to start the year with a healthy mind and body
When a new year comes around, it helps me focus on the future and brings fresh energy and hope into the workplace. Granted, feelings pass quickly and without careful resolutions and follow-through, it’s easy to squander the new year’s energy.
It’s always a great thing to be reminded of effective resolutions or activities to think about for a year that’s just starting, when we’re all so hopeful about the days, weeks, and months to come.
This is specially true when the things you’re being reminded of are intended to cultivate business productivity and for willing entrepreneurs to remain motivated throught the year!
I will be adopting your 10 Resolutions myself this year. Thanks for taking the time to share the great tips with us all!
Paula
2010 has been a good year for me as a part time online person, and I believe it will be another great year this 2011. What you said was true, positivity is also very important in business. Thank you for posting this, it’s a great reminder.
“Ask for help”; now there’s one that most of us don’t think about. I offer lots of help, but I can’t remember if I’ve ever specifically asked anyone for help. Of course, I’d need to know what I needed help with; isn’t that an odd conundrum? Great point, and it was your first one. :_)
Heiii … thank’s for sharing that !!
Happy New Year , best wishes !
Hello Ros,
Your New Year’s post is a great start for ringing in the New Year. You summed it up very nicely and effectively. I will incorporate this thinking into my reachable goals for the coming year. And thanks for the inspiration to get the New Year started off on the right foot.
Happy & Healthy New Year to you in advance.
Thanks, Rosalind for these tips. I especially like the one about trying new things- so often I get stuck in one mindset and ignore all the other possibilities!
Thanks Ros,
Those are great resolutions. The number 1 “Ask For Help” is essential. So many newbies or intermediate IM’ers never ask for help, or worse, they ask the wrong people for help.
I would add to the “Ask For Help” and say that everyone should find someone that can hold them accountable. A weekly 15 or 30 minute call with someone that has a level of IM expertise that you want to get to (not a million dollar internet marketer) will improve your progress hugely. Just like playing golf with someone better than you to improve your game.
Everyone needs that someone that will crack the whip every now and again, and get you laser focused.
I found that someone in the last half of 2010. It was uncomfortable because as an entrepreneur I had so many ideas but John helped me to focus on my model railroading membership site which ended up making over $82,000… This was the best profit I had ever had and I was actually working less hours! A simple call every week was all it took π
Happy New Year Ros and to all of your readers!

Hi Ian,
Ya, I should take my own advice on that count and look for someone to crack the whip. Laser-focus is NOT one of my specialties. π
Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the success with your model railroading site. Way to go!
Cheers,
Ros
Hi Ros, happy new year and thanks for the tips. After reading SAH and another e-book on Amazon affiliate marketing, my sales have doubled every month, so your points on seeking mentors and acknowledging every success are 100% true!
Hey Ken,
Thanks kindly for stopping by and sharing your success. Best to you for even more in 2011 and beyond!
Cheers,
Ros
Great tips, especially on social media with Facebook and Twitter. What about LinkedIn? Should LinkedIn be in the equation?
Hi Clint,
In your business, LinkedIn would be essential. So good point and thanks for adding it.
Best of success in 2011.
Cheers,
Ros
I say set your goals and live by them..nothing worse then being an procrastinator..
“Black Seo Guy “Signing Off”
Great tips – several I would never have thought of. I just recently started following your site, picked up Super Affiliate Handbook, and am hoping for a very productive 2011. Thank you for sharing!
You’re one out of a million. 99.99% of affiliates do not even make enough to pay grocery bills.Bought your course, read everything, did everything. Two years later after hundreds of hours $00.00.That’s it I’m done. The competition is unreal. Not blaming you, just tell it like it really is.You made it in the day Ros, that day is GONE.
Hi Greg,
I’m hardly one in a million and so many people have succeeded since I started my business ‘back in the day’. In fact, 2 of my students commented above about their success in the latter part of 2010… so maybe you didn’t ‘do’ everything. Just sayin’.
Cheers,
Ros
Thank you for this info, it will be part of some of my goals for 2011 a little push goes a long way
Happy New year to all
Great inspirational and the encouraging post. If you’re still on the ask the experts panel I will hopefully get to meet you at Affiliate Summit in January. As a long time reader of your blog I look forward very much to meeting you there. Your blog and books have really helped me build my online business up, and I’m excited to be attending ASW for the first time. Thanks Rosalind!
Hi Ros,
I hope all is well in your world. Glad to see you still out there being a symbol of success for hopeful affiliates to follow.
Happy New Year!
-David
Thanks Rosalind, I always love your numbered hints!
Easy to copy/paste right onto my desktop!
Darn, I’m not gonna make a million in the next 30 days?
Have a super duper 2011!
Sandy
Hey Sandy,
SURE you can… just buy that lottery ticket. π
HNY 2011
Cheers,

Thanks Rosalyn. I really appreciate your ‘down to earth’ advice. I find it so difficult to filter out the wheat from the chaff when it comes to advice on growing your online business. You are always the rational voice of reason that I end up turning to when I am looking for help with my business. Happy New Year!
Great Tips Rosalind! I would just add one – increase your presence on YouTube. Video is the new content king and YouTube should be part of anyone marketing online.
It’s one of my goals for 2011 to get in front of the camera more. I don’t like it but I’m going to do it! π
Thanks for the gentle push in the right direction.
I will read and reread these and put as many as I can into motion.
In rereading, I think particular attention should be placed on #4 – Learn something new. We tend to forget that so easily and just recycle the old process.
