Good grief. What's up with the Facebook Stalker app (and all the idiots that are promoting it)?
Folks, it's just another way that scammers are getting you to give up your Facebook password.
Don't fall for it!
First of all, if your Facebook security is good (no telephone numbers, addresses or real birth years), then you don't need to worry about those who will steal your identity.
And if you have played fast and loose with your personal information get LifeLock identity theft protection!!!
Secondly, it's easy enough to tell if you have a REAL stalker (and I've dealt with 2 of them over the years).
They don't just lurk – they pursue you — relentlessly.
They send you every app in the book, send you loving messages and then express real frustration when you don't respond. (Have you seen “The Resident“? Watch it.)
Dealing with Facebook stalkers is easy — defriend the creeps.
I have 2 Facebook accounts. One for family and REAL friends (those whom I've actually met, spent time with… love). The other is for people with whom I do business. Some folks are on both accounts… but never would I allow a stranger into my ‘friends and family' account.
Back to the point, as far as an Stalker Trackers application on Facebook — there's no such thing.
The original stalker app was removed from Facebook very quickly due to security issues. Don't believe that others will be any different.
So, don't fall for the bandwagon and promote it. In too many cases, it's just a front for nefarious programmer/scammers to access your account.
Thanks for the great idea.
But it´s too late. I have only a Facebook account and put every one there. I have to have another new Facebook account for those with whom I have business.
Another big work,
Useful suggestions and good to know that you recommend the lifelock product.
Spammy on Facebook is a waste of time. Think about their adveritsing tool, that is more efficient and easy-to-implement than any spam campaing.
Thanks again Rosalind for the warnings.
Some of these “stalkers” do make their posts so inviting, it is easy to see why some people fall for it. It seems like all I have done the last few days is delete posts and Facebook mail.

Like you’ve said, these evil apps are misleading, spamming our wall. Deleting unwanted posts is a lot of work. One thing I’ve learned, if it’s too good to be true, it is. I have to be more careful next time. 🙂
Hi Roz
Thanks for the heads up about the Facebook Stalker app. You mention that you have two Facebook accounts, a personal one for family/friends and a business one. Keeping the two separate is obviously the way to go but I thought Facebook rules only allowed us to have one account? If that is correct, how did you get round it?
Warm Regards
Lynn
Hi Lynn
I wasn’t aware that folks were restricted to one account, so I just added the second and no one stopped me. 🙂 Of course, I did use a different email address. Maybe that’s what they don’t allow – 2 accounts with the same email address??
Cheers,
Ros
Hi Rosalind
Thanks for the great article. I will be sharing this on my page.
As for FB account you are only allowed one. I have been torn between opening a second for family friends and have decided against it…. so now I keep my personal profile separate from fan page and even though I have loads of “business” friends, I don’t market there at all.
