Here's a question from Tony P. about selling ebooks on eBay as an affiliate…
Hi Rosalind, I am interested in becoming an affiliate for several online companies. A number of them offer an e-book and I intend to sell these e-books via online auctions. As with any auction sale, selling prices will vary. Knowing that I have an average 50% margin, I may begin the bidding at a 20% mark up.
Is this acceptable? How will affiliate provider handle these type of transactions in order to compensate me the appropriate commission?
Any other insight as to how can I offer ebooks via online auctions and arrange the sale would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Tony P.
The short answer is that you may NOT sell ebooks (or other products) on eBay as an affiliate.
As an ebook publisher, I am constantly on the lookout for such listings which are then removed shortly after they're reported to eBay's VERO program.
However, if you have your own ebook or report to sell on eBay, you can then include links to your affiliate products from within that book.
The other way to sell ebooks on eBay is to buy the resale rights for the book and resell it.
But do make sure that you have a resale licence. Simply buying a book from a merchant does not mean that the purchase has the right to resell it. For example my Super Affiliate Handbook does not come with resale rights — and never will.
To find ebooks with resale rights, search Google for “private label ebook” plus a keyword relevant to the topic. Alternatively, check Clickbank for resale rights, such as John Urman & Raul Bancod's package, which offers 260 no-restriction private label ebooks on a wide variety of topics.
