Avoid Mountains of Work – Get a CMS Sooner than Later

Granted, I didn't change the design very much, but the ArticleLive back-end is absolutely b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! Now I won't have to revise and upload 100's of HTML pages every time I make a change to the basic template – yee-ha!

When I told Anik Singal that I was going to a new CMS, he mentioned that he really liked the original NPT layout because it was ‘so easy to find what you're looking for'. Well, finding the information you want should now be even easier with well-defined categories, featured articles with links to related articles and reviews.

The only downside to changing over to ArticleLive was that I made it a D-I-Y project. Duh.

Ergo, not all of my 100's of articles are in the database yet, and there may be linking problems from within some of the older articles (if you find an error, please be kind and let me know), but the essential articles are all there and I'll go through them with a fine-tooth comb to make sure they're up-to-date and linked to the most helpful resources.

So, words to the wise. Get a great CMS when when you start your site (not 5 years into it) and avoid a HUGE mountain of work later.

Anyway, now that I've scaled that mountain, it's time for some R&R in the Rockies. Yee-HAAAAAA!

Ros to Speak at 5th Annual Casino Affiliate Convention

Rosalind speaks to attendees at 2006 Casino Affiliate ConventionI've just agreed to speak at the 5th Annual Casino Affiliate Convention to be held on August 27-28, 2007 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Montreal. (The pic was taken at the September 2006 Casino Affiliate Convention held in Vegas.)

My presentation topic is ‘Tips for Super Affiliates‘. Please note that as I do not work in the online gaming sector, this presentation will be of a more general nature, and therefore applicable to affiliates in all sectors.

That presentation will take place at 3:30 on Monday, August 27th. I will also participate in the ‘ADAM ANHANG MEMORIAL FINAL PANEL DEBATE (a.k.a.: The “Beer Session”)' currently scheduled for Tuesday August 28th at 3:00 PM.

The Casino Affiliate Convention has a global focus on internet marketing for the affiliate marketing and online gaming industry. Attending will be executives from casinos, poker rooms, skill gaming, P2P, bingo, sports books, marketing firms, online casino executives, affiliate managers, affiliates and portal webmasters of both gaming and non-gaming related sites.

PopShops and RevenueWire: Two Services to Watch

While prowling the exhibit hall with Anik Singal from AffiliateClassroom, I discovered 2 exciting new services.

PopShops is a GoldenCan competitor which claims to be “the first and only searchable collection of affiliate products (over 10 million and growing) that spans all of the major networks”.

With their Shopbuilder tool, you can create customized storefronts and widgets to earn commissions. Affiliates ID's are embedded into the links and prices and product info is kept fresh through dynamic links. [Read more…]

Affiliate Summit East 2007: My Thoughts

Well, I have to hand it to Missy Ward and Shawn Collins – Affiliate Summit just keeps getting bigger and better.

As always, it's great to to catch up with old friends and business colleagues at the Summit and do some business.

But I have to admit that I missed out on most of the party scene as my 19-hour travel day to Miami – which included a red-eye flight – completely threw me off for the first couple of days. Almost fell asleep in my shrimp dinner at Bubba Gumps on Saturday evening. 🙂

On Sunday, I spent 4 hours at the Meet Market talking to merchants, network representatives, super affiliates and affiliate bloggers. What I found particularly interesting were the program pitches… [Read more…]
