Just got this message from YouTube:
Your video How Affiliate Marketing Works has become popular on YouTube, and you're eligible to apply for the YouTube Partnership Program, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video.
Once you're approved, making money from your video is easy. Here's how it works: First sign into your YouTube account. Then, complete the steps outlined here: [link removed]. Once you're finished, we'll start placing ads next to your video and pay you a share of the revenue as long as you meet the program requirements.

Cheers,
Works for me, now if I could only see some money in my adsense!! haha
I must try to start using youtube and videos to strengthen ways to gain traffic…
Well, I’ve personally tested the efficiency of youtube videos for driving visitors that are quite targeted. I’ve had only 47 video views and 4 people clicked on my affiliate link on the blog that I’ve put in the “more info” as a link. So make a simple website/blog, make a video using simple tools like windows movie maker, add whatever music you like, but something light and not hard to listen, some light techno or even classical music, put the link of your site/blog in more info, and on your site place relevant affiliate links, banners whatever.
Take a look at similar videos, the ones that gained several thousands or dozens of thousands visits, take a look at their tags and place that same tags for your video. Make like 100-200 short videos about anything related to your site, and you will start getting visitors. At first it’s just fractions, but as the number of videos rises, the visitors will be coming more and more.
I got the same email from YouTube a couple months ago when my very first YouTube video (all about my t*ilet – link attached to this post) crossed over the ~45K view mark. I was kinda surprised, as the video was *completely* untargeted, but I guess there are a lot of adolescents searching YouTube for all kinds of “interesting” things. 2 years ago, thinking about what I could film with my new digital camera to put up on YouTube for the first time, I figured I needed something from either of the 2 categories of things that people demand on the internet (or in real life) – either something entertaining, or helpful. Maybe I hit both to some small degree.
If I remember correctly, the email itself as well as the YouTube Help pages were pretty clear that if I applied for the monetizing partnership, the video would either start showing ads beside it, or YouTube would outright *delete* the entire video. Since I wasn’t particularly attached to my video of my t*ilet, I figured I’d go ahead and complete the application, but at this point neither event has happened.

( PS Ros: I won’t be offended if you need to edit this post!
PPS On a more personal note, just 4 hours ago I randomly bumped into Tresham here on Venice Beach, LA, CA, US. Haven’t seen him in 7 years! )
Nice, way to go Ros! Didn’t know you could make money like that on You Tube… well, when the time comes, I WILL remember that! Thx for sharing…
Congratulations Rosalind! That is great!
