How to Add Affiliate Links to YouTube Videos using BubblePly

Do you make your own videos to promote products online as an affiliate? Does your merchant allow you to use their videos that are posted to YouTube, Blip.TV, Google Video, Metacafe and other video portals WITHOUT providing you with a way to embed your affiliate links?

Well, an easy and free way to embed your affiliate links in videos is by using the online service BubblePly.

You can add a link to the bottom of a video, or embed hyperlinks in text. When your site visitor clicks on the link, a new browswer window opens and the video continues playing.

Here's how to embed your affiliate links into a YouTube video:

  1. Copy the URL of a video you want to add a link to into the text form at BubblePly.com and click ‘Next'.
  2. Pause the video and get your affiliate link.
  3. Start the video again, hit ‘Bubble' and choose your desired bubble format.
  4. Enter your text.
  5. Enter your affiliate link.
  6. Drag the duration buttom right across to the end of the video.
  7. Click ‘Done' and you're done.

Here is the caveat (there's ALWAYS at least one, isn't there?).

It is best to create your own promotional videos as not all merchants will permit you to use their videos for this purpose.

Share Your YouTube Videos on Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader

I love services that simplify my online business.

One of those services is TwitterFeed's automatic posting of blog entries to my Twitter account — meaning that I rarely have to login to Twitter, unless of course I feel like telling everyone what I'm having for lunch that day — not. 🙂

Well, in a similar fashion, YouTube has just made sharing your videos easier too.

You can now connect your YouTube account with your Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader accounts — meaning that your followers, friends and shared-item readers will see when you upload a new video to YouTube.

Sweet!

To connect your YouTube account with Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader, simply click on Upload Video and you'll see the link for AutoShare Options. Choose one or choose all 3 — linking is pretty much instantaneous and painless.

The screenshot below shows my YouTube account and the AutoShare options I chose.

Now I just have to make and upload another video to YouTube… wait for it!

YouTube Video Honors: Who Woulda Thunk it?

I saw some interesting and quite unexpected results after posting my Home Office Tour and second-ever video to YouTube the other day.

When I stopped by YouTube this afternoon, I saw “#18 – Most Linked (This Week) – Howto & DIY” and “#80 – Most Viewed (This Week) – Howto & DIY” under “Honors for This Video“.

When I clicked on the first link, there was mine beside 2 from Lockergnome's Chris Pirillo, the ultimate techno-video-geek who has 694 videos up and 14,232 YouTube subscribers. Whoa! I am truly honored! 🙂

So… in real terms, did posting the video to YouTube result in traffic?

You betcha!

According to my AWSTATS, there was a big spike in searches for “Rosalind Gardner” which is exactly what I was aiming for when I named the video ‘Rosalind Gardner's Home Office Tour'.

Traffic is good, but traffic with brand awareness is even better.

So, there ya go, another lesson learned – the power of video.

How to Embed Video into Your Blog

Here's an easy way to make the search engines love your site.

Adding video to your site or blog increases the amount of time that visitors spend on your site. The more time they spend, the ‘stickier' your site appears, and ‘sticky' sites enjoy higher search engine rankings.

The easiest way to put video on your site is to embed code from a video that you found on YouTube, Google Video or other video-sharing site. The video is served by YouTube, so you save bandwidth on your server. 🙂

Regardless of your niche, you should be able to find relevant content on any of the major video-sharing sites that will be of interest to your visitors that you can post to your affiliate sites.

For example, to entertain my visitors at 101Date.com, I posted a very cute animated proposal video that I found on YouTube to my online dating blog.

Find out how easy this is to do by watching my own short video “How to Post a YouTube Video to Your Blog“, which is served by YouTube. NOTE: YouTube has marked this as ‘adult-only' viewing material so you have to be signed in to YouTube to actually see it. 🙂

You'll see that embedding the video is as simple as finding the video that you want to post, then copying and pasting code from the video's page directly into your post or webpage. You will have to register with YouTube first.

For videos that you find on Google Video, you have to dig a little deeper for the code.

Click the blue ‘Email – Blog – Send to MySpace' button, then the ‘Embed HTML' link that comes up directly below it and lastly the code to copy appears in a box below that.

Easy as pie!
